Importance Of Facebook In A Child Care Business

We can skip through Facebook's gaudy traffic statistics and summarize by saying that many people use Facebook often. It can be a powerful tool in not only retaining clients but acquiring them as well. You can create a significant amount of value for your business with about 10-15 minutes worth of effort a month.

In addition to checking reviews before purchasing, potential clients are increasingly looking through social media profiles to get a better idea of the company they are considering doing business with. This is particularly true in the child care industry where parents want the absolute best for their children and often have time to research facilities. Odds are, if your business is registered with your state, you already have a Facebook profile whether you created it or not. While an empty profile may not hurt your business much, it sure doesn't do anything to convince a parent to leave their child with you either.

So what kind of content should your profile include? The most important part is making sure the company name, address, phone number and business category are all correct. On Facebook, you can select both a "daycare" and "preschool" business. In addition to pictures of your facility and staff, there should be posts of children having fun and learning. Be sure to acquire the appropriate release forms before taking pictures of the kids. I recommend posting once a month, flooding your audience with content may turn them off. A single, monthly post is ideal because there is typically at least one holiday or special occasion that is celebrated which is likely to create more excitement and reactions.

So what does this do for your business? In addition to increased engagement and retention with your existing client base, there is increasing evidence that such interactions may help your website's organic search rankings. Also, a significant amount of referrals are made on Facebook (most without the owner knowing). When the recommendation is made the user is more likely to link your Facebook profile and not your website.  A complete profile with a generous amount of activity will also help to build credibility. They will feel more comfortable with you as they see 10, 20, 30, 50 or more people liking your posts and commenting on them.

Once your profile is complete and has a couple months of activity, it may be a good idea to test some sponsored posts and ads. Facebook ads can generate a significant ROI as there are always people having children and looking for care. The size of your market and budget will determine when and how long to run your ads. Because your Facebook page can be a strong tool in not only acquiring new clients but retaining them as well, you should also try to drive traffic to your page via links from your website.
